Christina Captieux
In a pre-recorded interview, Peter Mandelson heavily criticised the Government's Transport Policy. As he was leaving the studio news broke that the Transport Minister had just resigned and Mandy was in the frame for the job. Despite some pressure to 're-edit' the programme, it went out uncut as nature intended. Mandy never did get the job. Funny that...
Before joining Whistledown, Christina Captieux was Programmes Manager at Oneword Radio, twice-winner of the Sony Award for 'Digital Terrestrial Station of the Year'. Responsible for the station's editorial output, she produced a variety of programmes covering arts, factual entertainment, documentaries, readings and drama.
Yet, the allure of independent productions eventually beckoned and Christina joined the team as a Producer and Head of Development setting up our Northern Ireland outpost. A self confessed geek with a masters degree in literature, she has made 'Down the Wires' an Archive Hour with Matthew Parris, 'Looking for Lawrence' an Archive Hour with John Simpson, 'Artists Only' a five-part feature series with Michael Crick, 'The Sounds of Flanders’ with Mathew Parris, and produced the award-wining ‘Reunion' series with Sue MacGregor. For BBC Radio Ulster, she has just produced a three-part documentary series on Polish migrants in Northern Ireland, presented by Gerry Anderson.
